Character Strengths

The VIA Survey of Character Strengths is a simple self-assessment that takes less than 15 minutes and provides a wealth of information to help young people understand core characteristics.

Originally produced by the ABC, this 9-minute video discusses research that finds children commit between 40 and 90 per cent of sexual offences against children, with experts saying it is increasing but teachers and social workers aren't trained to deal with it and a culture of denial conceals those at risk. And a warning that this story is confronting.

Understanding Children's Sexual Behaviors-From Natural and Healthy to Disturbed

Dr. Johnson is a licensed clinical psychologist, author, and internationally recognized researcher and trainer in the field of child sexual abuse. Her essential course helps people working with children understand what are the expected behaviors related to sex and sexuality in young children and how to distinguish them from behaviors that are of concern and require some intervention.

  • LawStuff provides Australian state- and territory-specific legal information on a range of topics including sex, love and health.
  • ReachOut has information on sex and relationships for young people.
  • Sex, Love and Other Stuff is an online booklet for young men, developed with the help of young men, which talks about sex, relationships, power and respect.
  • What Do You Expect? is an online campaign against sexual violence that provides young people with practical information about consent, sexual negotiations, sexting and safety strategies.
